![]() There is just one problem with the views in NotePlan. Including filters into folders is a cool idea. ![]() If you want to have a look and give some feedback, reach out to and we could schedule a quick call. I'm experimenting currently with a view where you have only the sidebar and the note and optionally you can switch on the calendar. I think it makes more sense if you see some of the UI ideas we are working on right now for the next big update for NotePlan. You can have the middle pane closed and still access the notes, this makes it a bit sleeker. The thought behind showing the notes inside the sidebar was to be able to see the calendar and the note at the same time and some more things are possible. I have Ulysses on my Mac, thanks for the tip, I saw how they implemented it. Hi /u/beneberlin, thanks for your feedback! And in terms of sleek and simple UI they're killin' it. It's a small company from germany, the team was always super helpful in case of any problems. u/EduardMet: If you need a licence to try, just call them or write a twitter dm. That always felt like a super sleek solution to me. If you create a filter inside a folder, it just applys the filter to that folder. So you can basically decide wether you want to create a folder or a filter. Which could sound strange until you call it „Filter“. On top: Ulysses doesn't make difference between folders and perspectives. But it's still strange to see the notes in both panes.Ĭan't tell if it just for me doesn't feel right, because I'm an Ulysses User for almost a decade and they are doing it exactly the way I described above. EDIT: I see there is, if you're clicking a folder. There seems no connection between the folder tree and the second pane. Now all the notes are displayed in the folder tree which transfers the lack of overview into the sidebar with an endless length, so I need to open and close folders all the time. I would have expected: folder tree is for folders, the actual notes are in the second pane. The folder tree is something I was desperately waiting for to get some structure into my notes (I tried hard to keep everything sorted just with tags and perspectives, but it never worked out for me or at least felt like additional work to maintain it properly).īut how it works now is definitely different from what I expected. Just tried the beta with the newest release. This beta will update automatically, when a new update comes. Added functional Trash and Archive smart folders. Have fun and make a backup! Let me know what can be done better :) You can also create sub-folders.Ĭlick on a folder to see the notes inside the list of notes in the middle.Ĭlicking on Inbox, Recents and Archive doesn't show the notes in the middle pane yet.Ĭreating a new note using right-click is not completely done. You can click on "Notes" to see all your notes in a list and drag them from there into the folders. To create a new folder, right-click "Notes", name it and start moving notes into the folder. In "Recents" you see the last 5 edited notes. Inside "Inbox" are all your notes which are NOT in a folder. In your sidebar you can expand "Notes" now. Some existing features might not work anymore. We got a folder system in the sidebar now! It's a beta, so not everything is completely done and we are wide open for suggestions and improvement tips. Reach out to with your purchase receipt from the AppStore and we will generate a license code for you. Then you will see a trial or trial expired warning. Make sure to make a backup of your files! Go to iCloud Drive and copy the whole NotePlan folder somewhere safe. Reach out to if you want to get on the list. Edit: The beta has been discontinued in favor for working on the NotePlan 3 Beta where this feature is also available. ![]()
